Our Process: From Rough Stone to Radiant Gem
Working with Bill Boyce means working with a master who values precision, transparency, and artistry at every step. Whether you're submitting rough for custom faceting, requesting a recut, or simply looking for expert insight, our process is straightforward and personalized.
✧ Step 1: Initial Inquiry
Send us a message via our Contact Page to describe your stone, project goals, and any relevant details. If possible, include photos or dimensions of your material. Or Give us a Call for a Consultation!
✧ Step 2: Consultation & Evaluation
We’ll follow up with questions or a request to examine the stone (in person or via insured shipment). Bill will assess cut potential, risks, and recommendations—taking into account color, clarity, orientation, and intended use.
✧ Step 3: Custom Cut Planning
Once approved, Bill develops a cutting plan tailored to your stone’s geometry and optical properties. This ensures the best possible brilliance, light return, and preservation of carat weight where feasible.
✧ Step 4: Cutting & Finishing
Using advanced faceting equipment and hand techniques honed over decades, Bill transforms your rough or damaged gem into a precision-cut masterpiece.
✧ Step 5: Final Review & Return
You’ll receive detailed information about the finished stone, along with professional images upon request. The gem is returned fully insured, ready for setting or display.
